Picasa and Windows Server 2008

Installing Picasa will give you:

The current user is not allowed to install or update applications.

What you have to do to fix this:

1) Start / Administrative Tools / Server Manager / Features / Add
Features / Select “Desktop Experience”
2) Install and restart the PC and then reinstall Picasa.

I had the same problem, now it is OK. Thanks.

  3. Frank says:

Btw this will turn your computer into Vista, in many respects. Picasa depends on this to run?

  4. ratatosk says:

Picasa needs this to install at least.
Haven’t tried to turn it off after Picasa installs to see what happens.

    I use WindowsXp.
Not able to find the server manager.
    Where to locate?

  6. ratatosk says:

This is to fix a problem that stops Picasa from installing on Windows Server. I did not face this problem installing on WinXP. There shouldn’t be a “Desktop Experience” setting in WinXP.

  7. I use both Picassa and Flickr for sharing photos over the internet but i use Flickr more often than Picassa.”-`
